Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open March 8th – 21st

Indian Wells Tennis Garden will once again play host to the top ranked men’s and women’s tennis players in the world March 8th -21st.

This nearly 2 week ATP 1000 Masters and Sony Ericsson WTA tour event is a must see for any tennis fan.  Nicknamed the “Grand Slam of the West”, this is the closest California will get to enjoying major league tennis.

The BNP Paribas Open, formally the Pacific Life Open, is the most attended tennis tournament in the world outside of the 4 Grand Slams. Voted as one of the players’ favorite tour events, it remains one of the few tournaments that combine both the men’s and women’s tour.  Past champions include San Diego’s Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and Maria Sharapova, to name a few.

Held at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, this state of the art venue offers a 16,000 seat stadium, great exhibits, food court and bar including large video screen so you don’t miss any of the action.

Take advantage of free admission on March 8th and 9th for the tournament’s qualifying rounds . Wild Cards are traditionally awarded to some of Southern California’s top up and coming players. Walk the grounds and you will be surprised to see pros like Roger Federer, Raphael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Dinara Safina and Kim Clijsters during their practice sessions. This is a rare opportunity to see top players in the world on a outside court just having a hit. Stand a few feet away and be amazed at their ball striking ability. It’s like nothing you have ever seen.

If higher profile matches are more your style, then check out the night matches that are scheduled for the second week of play. After the matches Indian Wells offers great dining and nightlife for your enjoyment.
