First Serve Ace
Now the BNP Paribas Open

A Grand Slam in our own back yard.
Nicknamed the Grand Slam of the West the the BNP Paribas Open is one of the most renowned tennis tournaments in the world. This is the closest the west coast will get a major tournament and it is a must see.
Outside of the majors this is one of the last tounaments that plays host to the top ranked men and women in the world.

The BNP Paribas Open also offers many of southern California's up and coming players a chance to break through the ranks. Wild cards to the qualifing rounds are traditionally offered to players from Palm Springs, San Diego and Orange County.

Many people spend a lot of money to see these players in their matches but I highly recommend that if you want to witness the best players in the world up close and personal then you must attend this event. Arrive early in the first week for the men's and woman"s qualifying rounds. The crowds are small during the qualifying so it is simple to wonder from court to court. As you make your way along the practice courts you will be surprised to see Federer,  Monfils, Murray, and Haas all having a casual hit or playing out a practice set. There is no security keeping you from standing courtside and thats how the tournament director wants it. The organizers of the tournament do an excellent job giving the fans access to the players. You can spend the remainder of the day going from one practice court to another and watching many of your favorite players or visit one of the many exhibits located on the grounds. This tournament is a must see for any tennis fan and their family.
